Quality and standards

OCNWMR’s quality team plays a key role in ensuring that  centres comply with centre recognition criteria and that appropriate standards are being consistently applied to the award of credit and to NOCN qualifications.

To achieve this OCNWMR appoints a Quality Reviewer (QR) to each recognised centre. QRs normally make two visits per year to each centre. More visits can be arranged if either the centre or the OCN think it necessary.

In addition Specialist Quality Reviewers (SQRs) are appointed to centres offering courses in the following curriculum areas:

  • ESOL
  • Functional Skills
  • Languages
  • Art/Design

Centres demonstrating effective internal quality assurance arrangements can achieve Direct Claims Status, enabling staff who have achieved Approved Internal Verifier (AIV) status to independently confirm the award of credit.
