Applying for AIVS
What is AIVS?
Approved Internal Verifier (AIV) Status enables centres to assume ‘direct claims’ status, which is to say that centres will be able to sign the Recommendation for Award of Credit forms for their own students. Centres can assume direct claims status only if there are no outstanding quality assurance issues and they have individuals who are approved internal verifiers.
Our AIVS training programme is designed to equip candidates with the expertise necessary for them to operate as approved internal verifiers. A centre’s own direct claims status will be granted by way of the risk assessment process, which necessitates a health check on its quality assurance procedures and processes.
How do I apply for AIV status?
All prospective candidates are initially asked to complete the AIVS Application Form by answering all questions as fully as possible to enable a decision to be made about the allocation of the route to AIVS status that is most appropriate to them.

Route allocation is based upon the following minimum criteria:
Accredited route that requires training:
Full descriptions of all training routes can be found at AIVS Training Courses.
