Welcome to Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre

Wednesday, 14 Jul 2010

Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre is an 87 bed secure facility for young males and females aged between 12 and 17 years.  The centre cares for young people sentenced to a Detention and Training Order and also young people who have been remanded to the care of the Local Authority with a secure requirement. In addition, the centre also accommodates young people who have been sentenced at Crown Court for more serious offences.

The centre has specific programmes to meet the individual needs of young people. Purpose-built education facilities cater for academic and vocational education delivered by fully qualified teachers. Young people receive 25 hours of taught education 50.5 weeks of the year.

Teaching staff provide a broad and balanced curriculum based on the requirements of the National Curriculum.  Residential staff support teachers in the classroom to actively promote education and to ensure continuity of provision to meet the aims of the placement or sentence plan.  All young people at the centre have the opportunity to gain accreditation, both nationally recognised and internal certificates in all subject areas.

Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre is planning to use the NOCN Step-Up qualifications to supplement the educational provision they already offer to the young people in their establishment.  They are particularly interested in using units for personal and social development, functional skills and vocational development.

OCNWMR welcomes Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre to the Open College Network.
