"Standardisation in Practice"

Apr 28th

Standardisation is the process whereby assessment decisions are reviewed for accuracy against the unit criteria and for consistency across assessors and course cohorts. Successful standardisation events provide professional development for practitioners which supports the quality of future delivery and assessment.

The course is designed for:

  • Tutors, assessors and verifiers who will be involved in internal standardisation events
  • Internal verifiers new to internal verification processes and procedures
  • Internal verifiers new to N/OCN provision.

Aims:

  • To equip tutors, assessors and internal verifiers with the skills and knowledge to manage and contribute to effective internal standardisation
  • To provide guidance on N/OCN requirements for internal standardisation and practical advice on setting up and running such event
  • To offer delegates the opportunity to participate in a mini-standardisation exercise.

Please note: delegates should bring with them at least one unit portfolio from a course they have recently assessed. If preferred, the unit portfolio can be made anonymous, but IV documentation and assessor feedback should be included.

This session will run from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon in our offices on Pendeford Business Park, Wolverhampton.

Attendance on Standardisation in Practice may contribute towards the requirement from 1 September 2007 for all teachers, tutors, trainers and lecturers, working in FE colleges or providers delivering LSC-funded provision, to fulfil at least 30 hours (or part-time equivalent) continuing professional development each year.
